I am a mother of a 4 year old, I already have a neuro disorder that affects my energy levels. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Hyper Somnolence with Fibrod Mialgia Like Symptoms ( I know I spelled that wrong) I have to take 90-120mg of Dexadrin (a amphetamine) just to stay alert each day. Now I have these test results that say I am really low in Iron and it's causeing me to be tired on top of a lethargic problem. Can someone first tell me the conflict of what I have read. My results are as follows :
White Cell 7.7 Red Cell 4.62 Hemoglobin 11.3 Hematocrit 34.2 MCV 74.1 MCHC 33.1 RDW 16.5 Platelet 22.6 Reticulocyte 1.0 Retic Absolute 46.1 Ferritin Serum 4 Now I was reading that if your RDW is high then they look at the I think MCV to be high but mine is low. I don't know I don't understand the numbers per say. I am pretty sure mine is due to permenopause excessive menstrual bleeding. But I just want to make sure that these numbers look ok and someone isn't missing something. I was instructed to take 325 mg of ferrus sulfate. So question one sums up to be, does the numbers and the recomendation seem right? any thing I should be alerted to? Question number 2. How do I get my spouse to realize, feel, see whatever the words, that I can barley take care of me much less a child, I feel like a zombie, how can I make him understand, all the lititure says symptoms: fatigue big deal that don't tell him nothing, I need something with very expressive wording as to the physical strains my body is under right now. I need somethng he can read and go, "Oh gosh, now I see what you are saying" does anyone know of anything written or video that explains in a very descriptive way, what exactly is going on. Also can I be harmed if I continue to push on like this? Thank you to anyone who can help me find the answers I am in deep need of. Michelle Posted on 03/27/09, 09:03 am |

Hi there,
My family has been very supportive but there are definitely times they are sick of dealing with my fatigue! I have a spouse and 2 daughters, aged 9 and 10. My 10 year old keeps asking my spouse "when is Mommy going to get better?" I printed out the symptoms of anemia and put it on the refrigerator so they would understand. Recently my anemia has gotten severe so I have passed out, get cold sweats and my spouse is very concerned for me. I start IV Iron today and am really hoping it is a life-changing therapy! We also have a prayer support group at church and they are praying for me and my family as we go through this stressful time. Good luck! - Wendallyn
