I was originally amputated in March 2008. I just about got walking when I need revision surgery in December 2008. I am now walking fine with a C-Leg and I'm just about ready for my definitive socket. I have been having an experimental MAS socket built, we are on version 8 now (the 8th socket.) It is still not just right so I am going to switch to a different type of socket now. I am considering an Otto Bock socket using the Harmony System vacuum system.
I would like to hear from users of this system and the Limlogic System as they apply to AKA's. I have already heard from Robogirl, but if you would let me know your latest feelings about these systems I would love to hear about it. Any and all information would be appreciated. I have the Limb Logic Vac system for around 3 weeks now. I also went to see the Otto Bock system. My prosthetist had an Otto Bock Tech at his office. The tech had never seen the Limb Logic system before the one I came in with. He was impressed with how small the limb logic system was. The Otto Bock system takes up a lot more space. He took me on the side and told me that if he were me, he would stay with the limb logic. So that is what I am doing and I love the limb logic.

I am a BLK amp I went with the Otto Bock systems will never go back to the lock and pin system again the Vac system is much better system it feels more natual.
Not sure if this helps but If you can get your prosthetist to let you try both out for a week or two that is the best way to find out what is best for you. I have to two feet now, one is the Modular III foot, and the other is not sure on the name of it but I am using it now. Next Monday I have a appt with my leg guy I am going to have him put the Modular foot back on for I can see which one is better. I went every day for one week to try on a new test socket that didnt fit. We been working on it for 3 months now trying to get the best fit possible we want to get it right before we get premenit leg done. Good luck Dennis Dennis

Peter,
I'm not sure you are going to find many if any AK's using the limblogic system (at least here on DS), It's just too new a system and many prosthetist are just learning how to fix and deal with the little quirks and flaws the system has, and most CP's I know will want to prove the pump or system on a BK before fitting any AK with it. Robogirl has the top CP in the nation and she is going to be one of the few that is using new technology. If you want to try an active vac pump, I can say for fact that the limblogic pump is a very solid pump and hard to beat since it is smaller and lighter then the old Harmony pump and since it's built in line with no hoses it beats the heck out of the Hamoney E-pulse system (if you have room for an inline unit if not than the E-pulse or the Smith evac unit are for you). The limblogic does have a trial period on it so if you are pretty sure you are going to an active vac system I would pick the limblogic unit and just work with your CP to try and get things to work for you. Us BK people do know the quirks of each system but can't even begin to know how it will work in an AK application (though I told Heidi the samething about the pefect stride foot and she still liked it best).

Thanks for checking in guys. I cannot figure out where all the AK's are. I miss Kinzey902, too bad she left.

Not like she'd know the difference from a limblogic or a harmony anyways. She'd tell you to stick a windbreaker on your leg and pull it though the hole. ;0P

My new socket and sock .The sock is made of a sticky rubber(white in color)befor I put it on I have to spray a lubercant in and on it so that it does not get stuck together while putting it on.It has no diaphrams. The whole leanth of the stump supports the socket. What I like about it is that while sitting you can press the button and relive the pressure and when I stand up and apply pressure it blows the air out and is firm again.I wear this for over 16 hours aday

Hey papertrucker, this is really interresting. Do you know who makes the sock, or liner? I mean the stickey rubber part. Also, the button that you press to relieve the preasure, is that part of the rubber thing? Also, do you sweat? if you do sweat , does that break the seal between the rubber liner and your skin?
This is great information because I have never even heard of this type of liner, that uses a lubricant. Thanks for answering. Peter

Hey PeterK
I am BKR . I have a perfect stride foot and use the limblogic pump. Had a difficult time dealing with the leak problem, but think we have it all fig. out now. No sure how it would apply to above knee.. For me the limblogic pump gives the best fit I have ever had in over 25 yrs. I tried the e-harmany pump. I did not like the hoses. Other then that it worked fine. I have some videos on utube, that show both pumps. In one video am running on e-harmoney pump, in other am golfing with limblogic pump..my utube user name is "mynameisfrosty" if you insert that in the utube search , u will find videos of me. There is about 10 videos or so. If you watch them let me know what you think. Was just at a prosthetic seminar put on by the factory reps from limblogic, and am in the midst of getting a new socket. It was interesting talking to the factory rep. Limblogic web site says not to submerge the pump, and that it is not water proof. The factory rep told me it is water proof to 3 meters. He turned on a pump and tossed it into a pail of water when I did not believe him. He assures me I can go swimming with this pump, but not scuba diving. It has not been tested to depths . I plan to go swimming soon and try this out for my self...grin. Dont know what else I can tell you, but if you have any further questions , please feel free to ask Tiger...lol...just kidding Tiger. Ask away if you have any question I would be happy to help you out Frosty
