" I went through Hanger and my first knee and socket cost a mind numbing $13,000 for the socket and $16,000 for the knee which was low end.I now have a c-leg which retails for $65,000 but my insurance only payed $49,000 and I did not have to make up the differance. There are programs out there to aid you. " I suggest you call your local prosthetist, get an appointment and go in for an evaluation. Most all of them do this for free. Discuss your situation with them and they may have some super suggestions on where you can get financial help. Your fund raiser is a great idea by the way and it sure is a great cause. But prosthtics are like cars, different models, different features and different prices. Plus, you are unique - they don't make legs in detroit like they do cars. Every leg is built for the person they are fitting. You can search on the internet for your city or town or you can go to the yellow pages under "Prothetics". One other suggestion - search for the Amputee Coalition of America on the internet. I think they have some partial funding grants available.

" contact Llimbs for life http://www.limbsforlife.org/

Our heart at Limbs for Life is to see lives changed and restored. There are many pieces that must come together in order to reach the hundreds of amputees we help each year. Therefore we have developed 4 programs to meet the needs of our mission. Each program is designed to help as many people as possible, whether that’s by raising funds or simply raising awareness. Without each program, our organization would be incomplete. "
