Well, it was my turn this AM. Ken and I have a cup of coffee while watching the news. Everything normal I got him up to shower and shave , took off his house coat and knew right away . It was a mess Sink to stool. He had no idea he had done it and was not upset like he normally would be. While he was in shower he started yelling to stop" I'm going down. " I finally figured out he was dizzy. Than as he bent down to pull up his pant same thing. Really scared him. I had him bend down again just to make sure of what ,I don't know. Again very dizzy. I'll watch him over the week end and if doesn't get better get him into the doc. Other than that he seems to feel good.
Yesterday it hit 76 and he set outside while I did some work and he was fine. Anybody else have this situation or heard anything? Posted on 11/06/09, 11:11 am |

Sorry, Glenda. I guess we can all expect this at some point.
May be time to load up on latex gloves, paper towels, Odo-ban etc. I'm hearing some funny noises from Ron.. wonder if the CheezWhiz show is about to start ? :-( He may be sick. A few years ago Ron was real dizzy one moring, vomited , waved his finger in a circle to indicate he was dizzy. He had an inner ear infection and was in the hosp for 4 or 5 days.

Being dizzy is something that happens to Neal off and on and so far I can't figure out any kind of pattern to what causes it....although it is far more likely to happen if he is active then if he's just sitting or maybe we notice it when he's active because he's up and moving...at any rate when it happens he will break out into a cold sweat and get pale and need to sit down or hang onto something until it passes.
this may happen for several days in a row and then not happen again for weeks or even months.

Being dizzy should be seen by a doctor. He could be having some blood pressure or heart issue, or medication interaction. Dizzy and losing balance can have medical reasons that should be ruled out, not assume it is the dementia.
My mothers recent bought of falling was from blood circulation issues. Her heart doctor told me to be very concerned and not assume it is a symptom of dementia. Sorry for the mess. Hope he's ok and not sick. Good Luck.

There are a lot of things that can cause dizzyness, some of them are serious some evidently are not....I've had problems with being dizzy a good part of my life...I've been dizzy a good part of this last year and it ranges from mildly dizzy to feeling blind staggering drunk.
I've talked to doctors until I'm sick of it and none of them have come up with any bright ideas...years ago I had a doctor tell me that it's nothing to get excieted about and if I was still dizzy six months later they'd look in to it...so six months later we found I had a severe inflamation in the opitc nerve behind my left eye. That is not the problem this time... So, it could be meds...it could be blockage in the carotid arteries and a simple ultra sound can check that out. There are heart valve conditions that cause the blood not to flow correctly, not getting enough oxygen...can't remember now how to check that out. Anything that messes with the inner ear can cause dizzyness, anything from infections to blockages. I sure hope you get this figured out and it's nothing serious.
