Judy,
I was wondering how Ron has been doing since you started taking him off of his meds.? Have you seen an major changes?
Has anybody else taken a loved one off of the meds?

Ken has done pretty good the last couple of days, only one accident at night and none durning the day.
He has been in great spirtis.Has been kind of alert. I hope it is not one of the calm before the storm things. But, I'll take any good day.

Snow stiiling falling and wind howling out where we live, school canceled again tomorrow. About a foot of snow.

Hope all is going well.

" I really haven't noticed much difference. It takes a minute or two for
him to understand what I want him to do, but that was starting before I stopped the meds.

I am sick with flu/cold. I feel terrible and have a headache so bad
I can barely open my eyes.

I am praying for a good day today. I just don't have the energy or
patience to deal with too much mess.

We got a ton or rain yesterday. One of our downspouts was not
working, it was packed with big leaves. So - I am out in a cold, driving rain trying to pull that mess out of the pipe. I haven't felt
warm since. "

" My mom is on Namenda and Exelon twice a day. Not sure if it makes a lot of difference. Maybe slows the progression some, but the disese is what it is. My mom is starting to think that she is not home in the evening and wants to leaveto go home everynight.. sundowning. It is tough to see my mom this way. "

" Yea, my husband is doing a similar thing, he will come to me and say, "I have a problem can I talk to you? I don't know how I'm going t get home, I don't have a car or money and I don't want to bother you."

So now we have a nightly chat where I explain who I am, where he is, who he is and how he is in a safe place. "

" Hi, What stage is your husband in and how long has he had this? Was he doing this befre you took him off the meds or have you seen any big changes since he went off the meds?
When Ken gets up in the morning he sometimes says he doesn't know were he at but has never ask me to take him him some where else.
Last night we went to see the new Micheal Jackson movie. Ken did great I was so surprised he paid attention and seemed to enjoy it. He even told us he liked it and wanted to go again. I'm sure he didn't get the whole thing and was thinking it might be the big screen and it was mostly music. The big thing he said he had fun. "

" My husband is early stage 6 and I have seen no difference since I took him off the namenda and aricept a few weeks ago.

My husband always enjoys going out and we go to the movies a lot, he likes it and I agree I'm not sure how much he understands, remembers but I can tell he really likes it. "

" My Dad stopped Namenda this spring, actually seemed to calm him a little bit. His memory loss wasn't any worse, lost a few more words, but slept a little better. Didn't seem to lose any additional skills and progression seems to be about the same.

I wonder if these drugs at some point continue to try to fire neurons that just can't handle it anymore, increasing anxiety. I think my Father was more aware of his limitations when on these and so depressed and anxious...seemed to level out a bit once we discontinued them. "

" What stage is your Dad in and how long has be been on Namenda ?
You might have hit on something as far as the neutrons. I'm glad he leveled out.

Thanks for the information, it seems like the doctors can't make up their minds. "
