Want to say Hi to everyone. I have decided to take a much needed break. I am going with my cousins to the ocean in South Carolina, this Friday. We have a small condo rented for 8 days.
I have been very conflicted about going with the health problems my parents have been having. I finally decided I really need a mental break or I wont be any help to anyone. All your prayers would be greatly appreciated.
I am hoping my own health will allow me to make the trip, I am the driver with back up driver.
I think once we get going my energy will come back. It is amazing how much energy is drained from worry and being a caregiver. It has worn me out just packing.
I have done all I can do to make sure my parents are cared for. It is not in God's hands.
I need to throw this guilt out for a week and rejuvinate.
Thank you. Marcia

" Leave any guilt at home and just go and enjoy yourself. I'm so jealous, it snowed here all day yesterday and this morning it was clear but 20*. I could so go for a few days of sun and sand and just being warm. "

" Oh, I meant to write, in my post, "it is in God's hands not it is not in God's hand. That was one big typo. Sorry about that. Marcia "

" I'm so happy for you. You need the rest and your parents will be just fine. I heard once a long time ago that guilty people are unhealthy people and unhealthy people can't do the work they are suppose to do. So, my advice----leave that guit behind. It won't do you any good. It won't help your parents. But it will spoil your good time at the ocean in the sun. How wonderful that would be. I live here in the Pacific Northwest--it snowed today. Last Saturday it was 72 degrees. What's going on with this weather??
Have a WONDERFUL 8 days with your loved ones. I think I'm going to be a little bit envious. "

" I want to thank everyone for their support. I got back today from my 8 day vacation to myrtle beach, south carolina. We had a wonderful time. We had great weather, 83 degress. It did rain but we were lucky that the rain always came in the middle of the night. My husband was so tremendously kind that he called my parent on his lunch break and on his way home from work to see if they needed anything daily. He went to the grocery store on two Saturdays to get them groceries, fixed dads computer and their dish washer. What a great husband.
We, my cousin and I, made the 1300 mile trip without any problems. no missed turns, no auto problems, never lossed etc.
My mother did have to throw in some guilt about me getting home quick because wives should not leave their good husbands unless they want their marriage to end. Think that one is a generation difference.
I am tired tonight after a 12 hour drive but it is a good relaxed tired.
After my experience I would recommend to others to take some time for themselves to relax. Even if it is a day break or a few hours give yourself some time to be yourself. I feel I will be a better helped to my parents. I will be better able to cope with their problems, at least for awhile. LOL.
thank you again for the support everyone gave me. I really needed to have the encouragment to take the trip. Marcia "

" Just wanted to give a quick up date to my previous posts. My cousins and I just got back from our 9 day trip to Myrtle Beach. We had a great room, tremendous view of the ocean, wonderful weather, great conversation and most importantly alot of needed emotional rest.
Those nine days has found me ready to continue the work that is before me. I feel much stronger to do it. For others who are in the same position of feeling they need to get away and also need to care for elder parents I understand how a person can feel so conflicted about leaving. I do encourage people to take time for themselves if they can arrange care of their loved ones. I feel much more energized.
I want to thank everyone for their support. This has meant a great deal to me. Marcia "
