For my small "chapter", you can add my husban is in about stage 5.

He started on Namenda, but was getting so dizzy, I had to call the dr. and he said to stop it. He also was very confused last night, so it is difficult to tell if it is the meds, or the Altzhiemers.

" Don't give up on the Namenda. What dose did your husband start off with? Mine worked up to 20mg a day and it worked like a charm years ago to improve his behaviour. He is still on it along with Reminyl( has another name in the States but I can't think of it just now.
Namenda( called Ebixa) here is usually given in combination with another drug such as Aricept, Exelon or Reminyl. "

" He started on 5 mg. He was on it once before and got so dizzy when it was increased a little, he had to hold on to something to walk. They took him off for a short time, and we started it again, and were going to increase at much slower pace. He is also on Aricept. We was getting dizzy again, and only one 5 mg. I don't think he will be able to take it. "

" Too bad but you certainly don't want your husband to be dizzy. I know everyone reacts differently to drugs. It's been a huge expense for us as we had to get it from Holland before it was approved in Canada.
Apparently it's one of the drugs that is still used for later stage whereas the others have not been shown to be effective then. "
