  Post:
There is a new program out which is called Project life saver in many states that is a bracelet that a pt. with Alzheimers wears and it has a tracking device in it whereby if your loved one wanders away, the police can track them and find them quickly.

" I looked this up after reading the post. Great ideas it your community gets into it. Where I live, no such thing.

This is just a devise to help find a lost person. It does not keep track like a gps unit. Once the person is lost, the local police have special training and equipment to use a devise to help locate the person via the device on their wrist.

The gps unit type tracking systems, like used for keeping track of children are expensive and carry a hefty monthly fee. These usually have a button that the person can call. Some devices even track the persons movements so someone can lookup on a website and see where they are. This type does not stop them from wandering and gps can have problems.

I haven't seen anything that really works yet or that we could afford. But technology is changing. "

" Yes Linda, I know what you are talking about and we had that for a breif period for my mother but it didn't really work for her and she could not and did not know how to push anything to call. She didn't even know she was lost. She just would keep walking and trying to find her way home. The county executive in our county came up with the project life program, We have een it work as my mom has wandered a few times since. To help with her leving an alarm on the front door helps a great deal as well. "
