So, I'm 23 years old, and my 25 year old sister and I both have Alport Syndrome, and we both are on peritoneal dialysis. She is a college graduate working for a large corporation in Colorado, and I am a college drop out (school costs money, apparently) living in Alabama and delivering pizzas. I'm not saying my life was terrible before, but it wasn't great, And now all of my problems seem compounded because of this disease. It just feels like I'm wearing a backpack, and every day someone puts another 5 pound weight into it. I don't know if anyone else in this group is in a similar situation. I'm not having financial problems, because I fortunately qualify for Medicare. It's just the emotional toll that renal failure has put on me. Now, I haven't always lived the healthiest life. I was a drinker, and a smoker, and I was never too big on exercise, but I don't think this is an apporpriate punishment. And my sister has lived the cleanest, most straight-edged life you can imagine! Over a 4.0 GPA when she graduated high school, graduated from a great college in 4 years, and got a great job! I may deserve this, but she definitely doesn't. And I think that bothers me the most. Anyway, if anyone happens to read this, thank you for taking the time to listen to my story.

" I don't know where you are with the Lord, but I do know that with our family and the struggles we have faced, it truly has been by His strength that we are still moving forward. I encourage you to keep the faith. You sound like a smart and strong individual. "
