Hi! My name is Linda and I have recently been diagnosed with COPD and Emphysema. My shortness of breath has been a problem for over a year now. I finally had to be hospitalized and received the above diagnosis. While talking to my Pulmonary spec. I told him that my Grandpa died of lung problems and that my Dad also suffered from severe lung problems. He decided to test me for Alpha1. One test came back positive or elevated but he wanted to do another blood test that had to do with prototyping. I don't know what all this means and would love for someone to explain it to me. I'm just waiting. I'm scared for myself and also for my children. All my liver enzyme tests come back good but my liver is slightly enlarged upon ct scan.
I appreciate any input on this disease. Linda Posted on 06/24/09, 03:06 pm |

Ooops! Made a mistake on the name of the last test. It's phenotype test.

I still haven't heard from the second test yet. Hopefully it is okay. I'll have to call the doctor's office and see. I'll post here when I find out.
