Hi there
Maybe you can help me with a definition. Over the past 4 months I have been losing a lot of hair, I am now at the point where I have small bald patches over my head, and my hair line is VERY thin, and has receeded quite a bit. I've been to the GP, she put all the hairloss down to stress (my son & husband where both diagnosed with autoimmune disease in the past 6 months, been a real rollercoaster). I am just freaking out here a bit . . . My thyroid & insulin etc where tested about a year ago, and they where fine. Is this just stress, or an underlying problem :-/ Any thought are appreciated ! Thanks ! Posted on 09/24/09, 01:09 pm |

Has anyone talked to you about alopecia? From anything I've read or been told, most doctors think it's an immune system disorder. Some believe it can also be brought on by stress, but I'm sure our immune systems can be affected by stress. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot that can be done about it. My hair grew back while I was taking both steroids and immune suppressants for my Crohn's Disease (also an immune system disorder), but it fell out again as soon as I stopped the steroids. Anyway, I wish you and your family good luck and strength to see you through whatever the future brings.
