today i would have had 69 days clean and sober but this past weekend i got drunk. my fiance is the only person that knows and he just went through detox. im so proud of him. but i just cant bring myself to tell anyone that i relapsed AGAIN. i just cant seem to get this shit. im discoureged and angry at myself and let down and ashamed. and i know i need to tell my sponsor im just so ashamed and especially scared to tell my mom. my conscience is eating at me so bad and i want to do the right thing.
anyone have some experience, strength, or hope for me? Posted on 10/30/09, 05:10 pm |

Honesty will set you free! Remember the saying "We are only as sick as our secrets"~ and that is so true. Ya, it sucks to admit a slip, but once you are released from that guilt, you can get back on the horse.

It sucked tellin my family when I relapsed....my mom and 1 sister were very sad but supportive, and 1 sister was mad as hell. I felt like such a loser to fess up to what I had done...but it ended up helping me in the long run.
Give it up, you'll feel better.....if you don't tell, you may keep it hidden and decide to keep on drinkin if no one knows. You need the support right now. Get it out and move on. Good luck to you..hang in there! :)

They would have been happy to see you back Rainyday. Keep persevering, and do the work with your sponsor. It will get better, but it takes effort.

not that i am saying this is going to happen to you but take it from someone who consistantly relapsed for over 18 years and kept coming back and has over 8 years sober now. Just keep coming back. Everytime i relapsed i felt the way you do now and until i got totally honest with EVERYONE and stopped doing it my way i kept relapsing. My sponsor always took me in her arms at first and then dragged me to meetings for 24 hours straight everytime not to punish me but to help me. i am glad she did that now. lol. i guess i finally heard something. then when i told everyone else they were not surprised. they had all ready known by my actions or lack of..... if you can tell the hundreds that are here you can tell them. i am proud of you for taking a huge step and telling us. remember we are AS SICK AS OUR SECRETS..... hugs and love coming your way.
