When I felt numb--- I drank
when I was lonely --I drank
when I was borde ----I drank
when I was sad I would drink to make me happy for 20 minutes
then I would go right back to beeing numb again..
My husband says that am not an alcoholic and I really do not have a problem... I could not be concidered an alcholic He thinks I go to the meeting because I am lonely... He has me really thinking... I would buy a bottle of wine and have it gone but the night time... I never got in trouble with my drinking... What do you all think...

" Alcoholics like alcohol come in all varieties - if your h doesn't want to be acceptative of your disease there's nothing you can really do about that, your knowledge, your gut, your body, your brain, your soul tells you what you already know - of course now that you haven't drank and somebody is planting seeds like that of course it's gonna get you WONDERING - but that's also a trick of the addiction -as soon as we start feeling better in early sobriety we begin to think, well maybe I am not, well maybe I can, well maybe, well maybe, well maybe, you will here those words with attachments to them many a times!!!!

One doesn't have to be "in trouble" with drinking, your own world of misery is trouble within itsself.

Things to considered when your battling your thoughts - you already made a determination and you felt good about that. When you are at the meetings - it's definintely not to boost your company status - as many of those meetings can be depressing listening to all the stories of people - if you are lonely, why would you put yourself into that type of situation, i mean company of others who are miserable? Of course depression is big when you drink, it a depressant type of drug. Your son has been overseas, your daughter gives you issues - many a thing to consider -in the play of depression - when one stops drinking the chemical changes in the body begin to take place and your body goes thru so much after being put thru such hell.

Only you know what's best for your - don't let your mind start playing tricks on you.

Peace "

" Bigsby, like everyone has said it's what you think that matters.
But, alcoholism isn't necessarily about getting in trouble, it's about loss of control. If you can't control your drinking your probably in the right place and if you could control your drinking you probably never would of darkened an AA doorway. "

" Also , don't get too caught up in the why we drank think. We started drinking for the same reasons the rest of the society did, but we drank differently and the next thing you know we drank for any reason at all, or no reason. "

" Can you control the amount you drink?
Can you stop and stay stopped?

If you can, your husband's right, if you can't you are right. "
