it means so much.... its not just putting the bottle down, its learning to live in the now, accepting the past and not letting the brain wonder to far into the future as things can change at a drop of a dime... I posted in another forum about how frustrated i am over haveing to pack my kids to head out camping with the father and looking into the future of how its going to be me cleaning up after them when they get back.....
What I learned from that post and the wonderfull comments is a few things, however, the one that jumped out was... Boundries... I have never had bounderies that I stuck too... therefore the unmanagabilites are still growing with in my home... I have never just backed off and let things fall into place with the father of my children... My children no everything about me ... its time i shut up with their relationships with that man and let it fall where it needs to ..... its all part of recovery, i see the dynamics of how this is a disease that hurts so many and how we also protect the ones still using and abusing and not in recovery and still in denial.... Its just hard to back off and not ask questions and not try to fix it... i am greatfull today to be able to sit here and see my parts in this mess of alcholism and greatfull to also know that i will always have a seat in the fellowship of AA and sit around others who understand the heartache and pain we go through and also understand the miracles that can happen when we surrender .... Great post! Don't you love It when we can actually see our growth and situations where we are maturing? You letting things fall into place as opposed to trying to control is huge. Many things in your post show a lot of faith and reflection. I have often told people that part of recovery is about surrender and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. Lol! I'm very happy for you!
