who need a program! There's a ****ing epidemic of people not having their shit together, and most of them don't even have problems with alcohol! Shit is nuts... if ya ever look around at people, take a close look, you'll see it right away... same people complaining about the same shit year after year, they're ****ing miserable, won't do anything about it except complain and blame others, etc. It's the exact same thing, it's just that with them, they don't have to pick between change and jails/institutions/death, but it almost looks like they'd be better off if they did have to, ya know?

" I think Dr. Bob and Bill W. noticed the same thing. "And besides, we are sure that our way of living has its advantages for all."

" One of my favorite things about alcoholics, we know we're screwed up and working to make it better. "

" I don't know -- I look at the people in my life -- not just family and friends, but coworkers and acquaintances -- and think about how wonderful they are. Maybe you need to take a closer look before you judge them. "

" Wasn't my intent to judge'em... I guess I may have made it sound that way, but one can have all those defects I described and still be a good person "

" I can say I used to be happy and peaceful until I spent 3 years dating an alcoholic who hid his addiction very well. The last year the drinking became 24/7, and the criticism was intense over little or nothing! In that time, I became a zombie - lost my personality and doubted all my talents.

The current economic situation in the U.S., has everyone shaking so I think it is more than we are all mentally off - our environment has changed, and we are reacting! "

" The program teaches us that there is so much more to being sober than just not drinking. We learn how to care about others. We have a higher power to guide us. Our fellowship cannot be beat. All of those things have be learned. If we want change we have to become teachable. In order to become teachable we have to become humble.Being humble is not something that comes easy.

" We have a program for living. Yes, I believe your observation is right, most don't have the program. Just the way it is. I am so grateful I do :)

Your post reminds me too of 'accept, change and wisdom' from the serenity prayer. "
