so i can't help but scream out my frustration... saturday night, it happened again... but this time i went to the hospital. it was that bad. i had hoped that i would have been able to handle it, that i was going to be okay with a few drinks, and i was. but i kept asking for just one more, just one more. one is for sure too many and a thousand is and will never ever be enough. why can't i just drink like a normal person?

For me asking why I cant drink like a normal person is a bit like saying why cant I be 4 inches taller or why cant I have blue eyes. I am just built a certain way and an abnormal reaction to alcohol is something that I can do nothing about. If I drink I have that reaction, the only way I can prevent it is by not drinking at all.
Sounds simple but the other part of my problem is that my head tells me that it can be different, that this time I wont get drunk, that I dont really have a problem, that because i have fucked up so many times I will definitely be able to prevent it happening this time, that I have learnt from my mistakes, that it doesnt matter because life sober is terrible so i have to drink, and a million other things that end up with me drinking again. The only way I have been able to stop getting drunk is to stop drinking altogether and the only way i could do that was find a way to stay sober that doesnt rely on that faulty thinking.

I know why I can't.
I'm an alcoholic. When it comes to processing alcohol, I ain't nowhere near normal. So I don't drink. We each have to discover that for ourselves. I pray you do...

Don't know how old you are shawna, your profile say's 16, in another thread you say you're nearly 18. The below resources are for teens, so that should cover it. I'd encourage you to find help close to home. Perhaps beg off the parties for a while. Change can happen, but you have to make it happen.
http://teen.sharecare.com/ http://www.lvcentraloffice.org/?q=m... http://www.nevadaal-anon.org/alatee... Run a search on 'teen alcohol abuse' and educate yourself on what may happen if you continue on this path. If you're at school, they should have a counsellor you can speak to.
