I have a cunning plan!!

Ok... so I have put together a cunning plan to make the evenings less daunting with the hankering for a wee vino....

I work whatever house suit me so I have made appointments for each night this week, through to Friday @ 7.30pm, which means I won't get home until around 10ish, by then it's bedtime AND to ensure I don't get weak on the way home and buy some wine, I will leave my wallet at home ;) By the time I get home even if I DID get weak, all the stores will be shut.

I have substituted wine for coke... nom nom.

What fun ;) WHOOP WHOOP!

" Hope it helps. In early recovery I used to only take the money that I absolutely needed when I went out and also left all my cards at home so that I couldnt get anymore. That way even if I wanted to drink I couldnt buy any. "

" I actually think that's great - change your routine and you won't be so painfully aware of what you're NOT doing. Good luck! "

" There are a number of people on the alcoholism board who can tell you that attempting to use will power alone didn't work. Most of them are gone. Once a person relapses, it can be years before they get sick enough of themselves to try anything...even AA.

I am sincere when I say I hope you make it but like I said before, alcohol is a subtle foe and alcoholism kills many before their time. It's not a joke. I hope you follow some of the suggestions here. We are a group that really cares for other alcoholics. Like gjm says "peace be the journey". Dianna "

" Sounds good. You might make an AA meeting part of your nightly routine too. It worked for me. "

" Hello ForWalt,

I’m with you on this one because I know that I had to try all sorts of crazy stunts before finally accepting that I couldn’t do it. I finally went to an AA meeting and haven’t had to avoid life since then. "

" I tried having one and done, only have so much money, only to borrow. running out of money, only to count change. schedule a busy day, only to find time to drink, break plans, promises and obligations to drink.

A year ago, I would have read what I am reading from newbies on here and thought they were great plans.

Do what works for you, if it works, great.

Just a tid bit suggestion from a resident drunk(not now) there is no easy way out of this hell hole, if there was, TRUST me, I would have found it long ago. "

" Keep your driver's license, med insurance card, and emergency notifications with you. Should something unforseen happen while your wallet is at home you'll need basic documentation.

Think about maintaing 2 seperate wallets. One which will prevent you from drinking and the other wallet for use when other outside circumstances will get in the way of your getting a drink.

You could term this the Empty Wallet experiment. "
