i've posted on this forum before. i haven't really had slip ups. but tonight my anxiety is out of control and i know theres a tiny bit of vodka in the cabinet. if i choose to drink it ill be fine. but if i dont im stuck like this all night. should i? its not enough to get drunk and i dont have a car so there would be nothing irresponsible going on.

ive also been told that it is an option for me to go to a treatment facility for 28 days. although i don't think i need it i would go in respect of the court and the obvious... not going to jail if thats a factor.
but im so scared to be alone with strangers and in a hospital type environment im already depressed and i think i would completely lose my mind there(i've already been sent to a shorter treatment place and got help but i completely lost my mind) still feel like im recovering from that. anyways that was just a huge rant probably cause from my anxiety.

ANYWAYS
im thinking about taking that last little bit..

" My advise is to put yourself out of your misery and POUR IT DOWN THE DRAIN! You're right, sitting there obsessing about it will be no fun at all...but think through your options:

1) Drink it, don't get drunk, feel bad about yourself for drinking it
2) Drink it, want more, find more, get drunk, hope you find a way to stop drinking again, feel really bad about having gotten drunk
3) Leave it in the cabinet, don't drink it, have the longest night of your life obessing about 'should I?' or 'shouldn't I'?
4) Pour it down the drain, be done with it, feel really good about your decision, relax and enjoy the rest of your evening knowing that the decision has been made

I think you know which one I'd pick for you. Hope you do too : )

" You sound more angry than anxious! Are you going to torment yourself like this periodically? What are you doing to stay sober other than clinging on desperately? It doesn't have to be that way. "

" One drink is too many,a thousand not enough. Its that first drink that gets a drunk. Arent you tired of fighting everyone and everything? Maybe its time to surrender.

If you are anything like me then if you drink a tiny bit of vodka you will be very, very far from fine. You will set off a craving and all you will be able to think about is getting more. If you cant get more it will be total torture. The anxiety that comes with that is terrible. "

" Hello Basketcase,

Same applies as your last post. Even if you're not drinking huge amounts, you definitely seem to be drinking for the wrong reasons and in the wrong way. The fact that you're posting on this forum makes me think you know this.

You're at the beginning (or maybe half way down) a long, slippery, dangerous slope. Sometimes it doesn't take very long to get to the bottom. "

" Hi BasketCase,

Just maybe. Just maybe you can find another way to lower the anxiety you are feeling to help yourself. Maybe you know of a way or ways to help yourself do this. For me, I can do some deep breathing or relaxation techniques, or watch some TV show or movie that is new to me and interesting to get my mind off the anxiety some and the bottle, or reading an interesting or provocative book.

Also for me, I would or should pour it down the drain and stop considering it, as others here have already suggested. If it is there, I will keep considering drinking it, and then more than likely I will eventually drink it. And I then want more because it felt good. "
