I am not ashamed of my choice of religious practice but I do find that if I bring it up I am snubbed like I am a satan worshiper. I would like to be able to fellowship with other people of like mind. Any suggestions?

I would say good luck on that one. Instead, try focusing on similarities rather than differences. AA encourages us to rely on the God of our understanding. In that respect you and your AA cohorts are doing the same thing.

This should be interesting.... Although the members of AA may say that anyone, of any faith or no faith at all, are welcome to AA and their spiritual flavor should not matter, I suspect your being a Wiccan may make you less than welcome by some. I would hope not though.
On page 161 the truth of what Bill W. and those early members actually intended is framed by the following: “...being wrecked in the same vessel, being restored and united under one God, with hearts and minds attuned to the welfare of others.” Bill W., Dr. Bob and most of the first 100 who "recovered" were, I would assume, Christians but in order to provide a “Broad Highway” for people of all faiths and no faith (p. 55) the original transcript had to be altered from Bill's intention or wording. You can find more about this history and intent here: www.focusedandfree.com/christian_o... I would like to personally welcome you and hope others will without reservation.

Well, Spokane is a quite conservative area-am I right? Thinking that Wicca is out of the norm moreso there in general. I would say that perhaps there is AA groups there that are a bit more open minded-look for ones in the are maybe for gay people or atheists or something with an eclectic crowd.

I am not religious at all. And I'm not ashamed either! I find that religion divides people. Spirituality unites. I don't advertise my faith. It's my relationship with a Higher Power and/or Higher Powers, my personal journey, and no ones business. I don't like saying 'The Lords Prayer'. So I don't most of the time. AA has worked wonders in my life. I have to be perhaps more open minded than some. Every conception of God I have ever had has eventually had to be smashed. We know not and that is the truth. The only thing we know is that if we nurture a loving relationship in this Universe we are helped by it. If Wicca works for you, wonderful! But it's no one's business in AA, and I for one don't care at all. I wish some Christians would be more respectful. Hey if it's working for you, wonderful! Doesn't mean it works for us all. That is why religion was removed from the spiritual program and it is encouraged to do what works for each of us.

Well a BIG Hello to you!
Religious leanings (which faith) really shouldn't come up at meetings. I have heard it happen though. I am considered very outspoken by some...but try carefully to stay within and uphold BB guidelines. I, if pushed, will say I am a Hindu Morman....couple other things as well. BUT....I am excited....I live in Spokane Valley and attend regularly many meetings. At any of them you would be welcome because religious affiliation doesn't come up. Maybe once in a while someone says they went to church or whatever....thats about it. Often I may leave before the "Lord's prayer thingy" but besides tha.... things are great here. AA set itself up carefully to INCLUDE all........ Good Luck!

Why do you bring up your faith at a meeting? Totally inappropriate imo. Are you a Wiccan banger?? LOL

Sorry, I feel like I said kind of a lot! LOL Talk about bangers! I just moved to Sandpoint ID from NorCal and now I have to attend every meeting I go to in a church and they say the lords prayer afterward. It's taking some getting used to! :-) But I love the people and sobriety here.

There is an answer to that Lorna.
Become a member of a group so you can vote Group Conscience and show them in the BB the other stuff to say at the end. Some use the promises Some use....ummm something else benign I would push my point of view if it really bothered me....but it is far far down my list.
