Am I the only one in Puerto Rico with SAD?

I'm always looking to make friends but have such issues with the anxiety and nervousness around new people. I don't know what causes it but I wish I could make it go away. I come from a big family and love so much to be around people and groups but everytime I do, the SAD kicks in and I can't relax. I can't even focus on what people are saying to me because I'm so tense. How can I learn to relax more?

Hey friend, I doubt you are the only one in Puerto Rico with social anxiety. I belong to a social anxiety group in Boston and you wouldn't believe the # of people who attend or attempt to attend. (Sometimes the meetings fill up before I can sign up!)
Exercise helps me a lot with the physical symptoms. A good workout that gets my heart pumping (ironically) calms me right down and usually puts me in a more positive state. I also find listening to music and chewing gum helps.
