it went really well.
I was super nervous and was ready to throw up just before I had to go in but I had taken a sedative so just did some breathing and tried to pay attention to other things. There were 3 ladies interviewing me, they all had a really friendly feel to them, the atmosphere in the entire place was very warm and caring so that made a huge difference. I was honest from the get go about my agoraphobia and explained what that would mean to them as a potential employer (such as it will take me a few days to create my safe spot and feel comfortable here but I will be able to do that- place is a small office within a store- if they want me to fill in up front at customer service for a while I would not be able to do that, I'd panic. or a coffee run would be out of the question as it's too far and I am not driving yet, however taking something to the post office would be fine as I am familiar with that stretch and can walk it. Unless of course there is a long lineup of people, then I can't. ) I really let them know that I would be able to do the job that they advertised and do it very well. they seemed impressed with my honesty so we'll see. At least I feel better about things because IF I do get hired then at least there won't be a nasty surprise of me "being asked to run an errand or having to do something I simply can't do" so we'll see. I am very glad the interview is over with, am very proud of myself for not only having gone but also for being honest. Posted on 10/21/09, 09:10 pm |

Bravo to you. Being up front with a possible employer is something I don't think I could ever do. I hope they understand your situation and you get the job. Please let us all know how it turned out. So proud of you for doing something many of us can't.

This is a great first step. And with 3 interviewers! Wow! You me54 is so right. You are brave telling them about who you really are. This way there is no lies no additional stress. If the don't hire you then it wasnt a healthy place for you to be. Good job!!

I'm so sorry you didn't get the job, but WOW I am so proud of you! What a light you are to me, I couldn't imagine going to an interview with one person, let alone 3 at once! You are such a strong person being able to tell them the truth up front. You'll find the right place hun, everything happens for a reason. (((BIG HUGS TO YOU))) :o)

thanks so much for saying that.
I have been telling myself that everything happens for a reason since I found out as it has made me pretty sad. But I'm not going to give in to feeling like I failed my family by not getting this. Everything does happen for a reason, you are right. Doesn't make it easier to slug through the rejection though. there are simply too many people wanting each job right now and that is a really good place to work so there were probably tons of people applying.
