So, my son is starting to develop black heads on his face, and mild acne on his chest. I'm thinking of getting him spectro-jel cleansing pads for his face, and neutrogena body wash. What do you guys think??

" i would try anything, the worst it would do is dry his skin out, but if it gets worse, i would go right to a dermatologist. you dont want it to get out of hand. good luck "

" tee tree oil is guaranteed to work do it at night cause it has a strong fragrance.
It also works on foot odor/ fungus all kinds off things.
If your nails yellow on the toes, it cures so so much and is natural :) "

" my daughter is 11 now, and has severe acne. i was the same way and suffered through it becasue my parents refused to treat it until i had severe scarring and 17 (when i could get on accutane).

she's treid just about everything, including proactiv and the stuff from avon, etc. i recently started using acne.org's stuff, and because it works so well for me (i still have hormonal imbalance from PCOS/cancer and have acne at 35), i started her on it. i really like it, and it's not too harsh like most acne products.

it's a 3 step system. a cleanser, a treatment (2.5% benzoyl peroxide which is as effective, but less harsh, than 10%), and a moisturizer. i have always had so much trouble piecing together my own products because one part of one system would work, and another from a different system, etc. it's crazy. they have a whole forum over there for helping with acne, and the guy who designed it suffered from acne as well.

i can sympathize wiht your son, definitely. my 10 year old son is just starting to have tiny whiteheads on his face/hair line.

if he's just starting out, i'd try anything OTC. just be careful that it's not too drying. the pads alone can be too drying for some people. maybe start at a reduced application rate (if it says use twice a day, use once, and build up, etc). also the key to keeping inflammation and irritation down is to be extremely gentle with cleansing the face (and applying anything to it, like acne treatment). you should just be barely touching the skin, no more. that trick alone helped immensely with my skin.

i hope whatever you choose helps him. i wish i had a mom like you when i was 10 and suffering from severe acne. :( i refuse to allow my own kids to go through such horrific bullying and teasing because of acne. i know everyone gets some, but i was teased relentlessly because of the severity. "
