My middle son will be 5 next week. My oldest will be 7 december 8. I want them both to have a party, but it is very expensive. My 7 yr old has never had a birthday party. So I really want to make it very special for him. I was thinking of doing one big party at chuck e cheese in the middle of november for both of them. Do you think this would be ok? I want it to special, but maybe having them share it would make it less special? I cant afford two parties in 1 month, but I will here alot of crap from my family if i do it together. Idk. I need opinions

" Hmm, if it were me and I didnt wanna hear garbage from either side of the family trees.....I would let the rgandparents host the birthday parties! I have done it before and will do it again if I can't afford to.

Other approaches I took were to have a small get together at my home. Invited family, friends with children and asked them to bring a covered dish. Don't be ashamed to give them an idea of what dish to bring either. You can do the baking; either cup cakes or a cake. Let the birthday child decide and let them help make things.

Decorations: home made ones rock. It also allows the children to get involved and do the decorating! Make funny hats out of construction paper. You can make a pinnata out of paper mache, paint it and decorate it.

There are websites full of wonderful suggestions and helpful hints...do a google search and dont worry mom, you can have a wonderful party for the kids. And the memories are priceless!

Hugs. "

" well, this may not be the suggestion you are wanting exactly, but this year I had a largish party for my 7yo. I put a lot of time and energy into it to make is special. It was a disaster! All of the boys were just rotten to each other and not very nice to my son and he cried several times during the party. It just ended up being a day of bad chemistry. I said "never again!!!!" and I mean it. Next year I plan to take him to the zoo or science museum, the year after that I'll have a family party at grandmas or something. "

" No that is wonderful idea! I have combined my 4 and 6 year old boys b-day parties every year, and a good time is had by all (and I save some money and headache by not having 3). "
