" Do you have any advice for childern that dont listen, and have selective hearing? How do I get my son to understand and listen to my needs? I have recently been diagnosed with a chronic illness and I dont have as much energy as Id like to have. I do as much as I can but I have a cut off point. My son understands this to a point, but he will push certain issues to get what he wants, I am finding this highly frustrating to the point where I have to go to my room as I am so angry with him and i dont know how to deal with it. " So sorry u r dealing with all these things. Boys often have difficulty listening. Michael Gurian.com has a website and several books about boys and their listenIng diff. He says to speak to them at eye level, speak in their left ear bc they hear better in the left ear. Also uou can try speaking in a whisper to force him to pay attention. The main thing is to be as consistent as you can. I have type 1 diabetes and I know it's diff to be consistent when you have chronic illness. I hope these ideas help. Thanks for reading my article. "
