" I agree I think for the most part teaching kids to hit back as a responce to getting hit at a young age will help foster a lot of problems. Eventually kids need to know that when being attacked that it is ok to protect your self and fight back. BUT at the ripe old age of 5 I encourage my daughter to sek adult help when she is being hit on. Hitting back wont teach the other kid much and only teaches my kid that violence is ok. She does know that if some one constantly hits her or bites her to protect her self is ok. But I can honestly say that very rarely has she ever hit back. She thinks its 'just awful' (her words) that a kid behaves that way... and for now thats the way I want it to stay lol "

" i dont either. it doesnt matter who starts it, if you hit back you are just as much to blame. my son is in karate and they teach "street defense", and part of it is they tell the kids to say something like "get back, i dont wanna fight you!" im curious to know why you are posting this tho. is everything ok? "
