Getting out of nappies

Ok I have my mad moments and ideas every now and then and this is something that popped into my head this morning whilst in the shower ... opps sorry too much information:)

Anyway I am trying to get Kieran out of pull up nappies and am starting by doing this each weekend and put big boy pants on him ... yes you can imagine the amount I go through and the washing I have (LOL)

Anyway this morning I was thinking, and just want your thoughts and opinions more than anything. What about when I put the big boy pants on him placing a sanitary towel inside it, you know the very very slim ones. Do you think that would help him get the sensation of when he is wet and wanting using the potty etc etc. I have both a potty and a wee wee thing that hooks over the side of the toilet.

Opinion/Ideas???

Hugs to everyone and thanks

" With my son, who's 44 months, the final straw was just putting him in big boy pants for good. Pullups were nice, but he just thought they were diapers and peed and pooped in them. yes, it was a mess for about a week, but eventually he got the picture. He had poopy accidents longer than pee, but as long as we took him to the toilet every 1-1.5 hours he would go. Daycare also took him every hour even if he siad he didn't have to go, until he started going dry all day. he hasn't had an accident since Father's Day(mid June).

" The pads are supposed to make us feel dry and clean, so I don't think it would help much. Can you try going bare bottomed? My son seemed to understand things a lot more when there was nothing there. I think at first he just felt something on him and assumed it was diapers. Course I have mostly hardwood and tile so it wasn't a big deal if there was an accident on the floor. Course with underwear it was on the floor too, so I looked at it as at least I didn't have to change him and clean the floor. "

" I think what i would do is just get the "padded" under pants they are a bit absorbent buthe will feel wet! cuz it is just material like a washale dipar. if you can't find this I would go to Sears and get Kushies dipar pads they are in a pack of 10 and you put one or two in his big boy pants and they absorb but he'll still feel wet they are like $9.99 for a pkg of ten it may be cheeper where you are. ( things are expensive here, lol) And you just throw them in the wash with his whites ( so they stay white) and uses the same detergent as you uses on his undies. It will help in the end, he'll feel wet and you wont have puddles on your floor.lol I hope it work message me if you like, best of luck to you both. "
