My DD will be 4 months old next Wednesday. For a couple of weeks now she's been drooling excessively and chewing her hands & bib a lot more. 2 days ago she started this thing that I can only describe as sucking her gums. She's been a cranky pants and is even fussy with eating all of a sudden. I checked her gums but I haven't seen any buds yet, but does it sound like she could be beginning to teethe?

" My son does this from time to time. I'm sure it's teething, but don't be siprised to not find a tooth for a while. My son teethed for 1 months before he got his first 2 teeth. Now, it's been almost 4 months since he got those, and I swear everyday by the way he acts he'll have another one the next day. "

" My daughter did the same thing right around 3 months and I thought it was teething. I'm sure it's something to do with their teeth maybe coming down, but not going through their gums. One night she cried and cried and cried until I put that "gum brush" on my finger and she sucked on and massaged her gums with that until she fell asleep. She's now a little over 5 months old and not one tooth in sight. Doc told me that around 3 months their saliva glands mature and that's why they salivate more. "
