Sleep Crawling

My son is 8 months old and seems to be waking himself up in the night by crawling around his cot!! When he wakes up I'm not sure what to do so I generally leave him to see if he'll go back to sleep on his own but in the middle of the night when I am SHATTERED its really difficult and I generally end up feeding him so that he will go back to sleep. I feed him in bed with us and generally fall asleep whilst doing so and when I wake up he is trying to crawl over the top of me!!! Is there anything I should/ can be doing to help him get back to sleep in the night? x

" when you have an answer let me know ?

my son is 10 1/2 months old. he was sleeping fine throughout the night up until 3 weeks ago when he got sick and was waking up in the middle of the night. theres something about the 3 am hour that he always wakes up. for the last 3 weeks i have had to bring him in my bed so he goes back to bed. hes mastered standing up in his crib so when he wakes up he rocks back and forth on the piece that goes down and makes a lot of noise.

my little guy is also in that attachment phase where its all about mommy and wants to be with me all the time. it seems like i have a permanent attachment to me right now "

" Ugh. My ten month old has been doing this for at least a month now. It's awful because he will be sleeping soundly and then out of nowhere, start crawling and wake himself up. It is so sad to go in there and see him sitting up in the corner, crying while half asleep! There's really nothing you can do about this except wait it out. I think the reason for this, is that they are so 'excited' about all the new things they are able to do, and can't seem to turn it off even in their sleep.

Good luck! "

" I feel your pain, ladies. Nina is 15 months old and she still sleep crawls. Normally, something else is the cause of them waking- a wet diaper, too hot or cold, too loud, teething, etc.

Nina was a perfect little sleeper until she hit 10 months. Due to teething, a wet diaper, and very cold weather, she was constantly waking at night. Her crawling around was actually her trying to get comfortable.

It has gotten a lot better since I moved her out of the cot and into a regular bed. She doesn't squish up against the edges and won't make rounds around the perimeter. Maybe some kids don't like sleeping behind bars?

RSmith, is your son teething? That is one of the telltale signs. :o) "
