Circumcision?

Hello,

What are your thought on circumcision? I've read the literature on it, and there really is no "right" or "wrong" decision, but a peronal one. I thought I'd just get some advice from real parents to see what the pros and cons are....

Thanks so much,
Maggie. :)

" In the UK you don't decide whether to get your baby circumsised or not. Unless there is a medical or religious reason 4 doing it... Its just not done. "

" I figured since the last time I checked I didn't have a penis I'd leave that decision to my husband. He said if we ever have a boy he would like to have him circumcised since he is which is totally ok with me, they use anesthesia so it's not like it hurts them and most people around here still get circumcised anyways. " I say YES YES YES
I have 4 boys all were circ'd at birth. I have a friend form California (they tend to not circumsize)anyway..... she has 3 Un-circ'd boys who are all teenagers and they hate that they are not circ'd. One who's 19 even has insecurity issues because of it. And all 3 of those boys have had medical issues from being un-circ'd, and it's not because they don't know proper hygiene.

Yes ladies I've heard all the reason against it several times and I still disagree.....LOL
Just like MaggC said it's a personal decision.
This is only only my opinion.
Good luck MaggC...you'll know what's right for your family. "

" Watch a baby getting circumcised and then see if you want your baby to go through with it. It just seems like such a cruel thing to do to a baby. If I have another baby and it was a boy, I just wouldn't do it. "

" We did it, and I am SO happy that we did it! I agree, the kicker was what I call the "locker room effect". I teach high school, and see how insecure even the most confident of teenagers can be about the smallest things. (no pun intended LOL) If we have more boys, we'll have them circ'd too. "

" We are Jewish and therefore my son def. is circumsized. The Mohel (Rabbi that performs the ceremony) gives the baby a little wine which knocks him out and therefore feels nothing. The circumcision itself took less than 30 seconds and the baby didnt cry AT ALL, not even after he woke up.

I've heard a lot of pros and cons regarding this topic. Even if Religion didnt play a role in my decision I would still choose to circumsize. "

" Im totally against this idea, parents with boys why dont you wait for the child to become of an age where they can make their own decisions and see how many actually do it! I think its pure cruelty. "

" I watched our sons circumsision, they numbed him with lidocaine and he squeaked a little. The procedure took about 5 minutes tops. I talked to a surgeon who's mother had decided not to get him circ'd and he was 25 when he made the decision to have it done. He said he wished his mom would have had it done when he was born. The good thing is is that it is a choice, you don't agree with it don't have the procedure done. "
