2 month shots--please help!

My son is having is 2 month shots tomorrow and I am absolutely scared to death about it!! I can't stop thinking that he will become autistic or even die from them. I actually don't even care if he becomes autistic as long as he doesn't die. I don't think I will be able to sleep for weeks after he gets them just so I can watch him and make sure he keeps breathing.

What should I do??? I'm almost thinking about not even getting them. I have such anxiety about SIDS that I can barely sleep at night.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

" Well to be honest I had the same horrible thoughts before my daughters 2 month shots... so I postponed them until she was 4 months old. All she had wrong with her after was about 10 min of tears as the shots were being done and right after, and a few days of achy legs, for which I was allowed to give her some infant tylenol. Check with your doc about the tylenol, but my doc seemed fine with the fact that she is 2 months behind.. she is now almost 6 months old and due for her "4 month" shots.. LOL if you choose to do this, make sure you write down what shots are happening when. From what I was told, as long as they are given in the right schedule, a 2 month postponment is not going to cause any problems. "

" Also because they give the dtAp shot and not the dtp shot, the chance of fever is slim, and fevers over 104 where what was causing all the problems. My daughter had no fever to speak of. "

" I to am scared to death to give my daughter shots and I have read that you dont have to give them any shots till there 12mo. Old which helps reduce the chance of anything happening because they are older. Unless your child has to go to day care I would wait. "

" Educate yourself as much as you can, and talk w/ your dr. so you can make an educated decision. Don't vaccinate or not based on fear. "

" Totally postpone them until you feel comfortable with them. I 100% agree with Cherbear, dont do or dont based on fear. Start by researching the diseases we vaccinate for, I can guarentee they are not as scary as they are made out to be. YOu can go to the CDC website and look up the Pink Book, it gives you real information about vaccines more so then the parent propaganda most parents receive their vax education for. Adverse reactions happen all the time, and the DTaP shot is one of the worst for reactions. I find it more than a coincidence that SIDS peak 2-6 months when you look at all the shots they are given in that period. YOu ALWAYS have the right to give your child 1 shot at a time and space them out, I reccomend that more so than the current schedule.

I have spent the last 6 months researching this same topic and have made the personal choice to delay the vaccines indefinetly, and its not an easy choice to make. If you can any questions, or you would like some help in finding a good book/website PM me I am more than happy to help. Your doctor should be more than happy to give you the vaccine inserts READ THEM! You will often be shocked by the information that isn't told to you by your doc! I have included a site that gives you information about every vaccine insert http://www.vaccinesafety.edu/packa...
This is also good to check out because it shows you what diseases are in the vaccine you would be giving(i.e pedirix is for Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Adsorbed, Hepatitis B (Recombinant) and Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine Combined)

Good luck in your researching! I was at your same spot too, it took me until Tayla was at her 4 month appt to finally have the knowledge to just stop giving them. I regret giving her a single injection more than anything now. "

" I worried the whole time about the shot thing but in the end everything worked out fine. I cried more then she did and though her legs hurt for about two days after words she was fine. I stayed up two nights after she had them and checked on her but she was fine. Good Luck in what ever you do. "

" the vaccine primarily in question is the mmr delivered at 12 and 18mths. that being said there has not been any substantial evidence to prove vaccines cause autism. however i have held off on giving my son the mmr until i know he is in the clear. "

" it suprises me that a lot of ppl are so worried about this. i mean of course it is a concern. but if it was really bad then i think they would change the schedual for all babies vaccines.
i have had my son done on time so far and havnt even really thought twice about it.
obviously this is just my personal opinion, but there are risks with any medication that anyone takes. and i think these vaccines are there for a reason.
like i said, this is just my opinion and i do understand ur concerns, but if u arent sure then definately do some research and talk to ur doctor about it, so they can explain the risks properly to u.
good luck with ur choice "

" Wow, this topic really surprises me and also makes me feel like I'm behind the eight ball! I mean, I didn't even know there was a worry with the babies getting their shots. My sugar pie is 3 months old and she's gotten all of her shots perfectly on schedule. I never even considered not getting her shots done, but I also never heard any of these concerns about the shots creating all of these issues!

That being said, I think I will continue with the shots even with this new knowledge. My sugar handles getting her shots really well. Sometimes she doesn't even cry and if she does, she stops as soon as you pick her up. She's never seemed to have any soreness either.

Anyway, to address your fears, it just shows that you're a great mommy because all great mommy's worry. Like everyone else said, just try to educate yourself (but don't believe everything you read on the internet...be selective and talk to your doctor) and do what feels right to you and for your family.

Good luck. "
