Advice:
Earache?

For the last few weeks my 19wk old son has occasionally played with his ears. Particularly the right one. He doesn't seem to be in pain with it but does it more often when he's tired or grizzly and sometimes when he's feeding.
I originally assumed that he was just playing with his ears like he plays with his own hands - investigating the parts of his body that he can grab hold of.
Is this common behaviour? I'll check with the health visitor next time I take him to the clinic but I'd be interested in any advice from other parents.
Thanks.

" Generally there are a few signs that make it easy to spot an ear infection or earaches. Ear pulling, difficulty eating or sucking, fever, fussy behavior, unusual color of the ear wax when the ears are cleaned (normally a sickly green), and sometimes the ears will be bright red.

I think you're right about it just being a part of body exploration. If your son is acting normal, I don't think there is anything to worry about. At his next checkup at the doctor's, you can have his ears looked at, just in case. "

" My doctor said that 85% of earaches heal on their own, and not to worry---I had no idea!!! And, my little one does the same---it's just calming to him. "
