our adoptions were local
cost $11000.00 to $15000.00 wait time for us was first one no wait time we were selected even before our paperwork was done, second about three months, we just inquired about adoption at our local catholic diocese and they set us up with an agency that took care of everything but most importantly they made us feel comfortable, they were right beside us everystep of the way literally. We have friends that adopted international and although there was more red tape, more money and longer wait time they came home with a beautiful baby boy and couldn't be happier. Agood agency should be able to help you with international adoption as well. good luck to you. Mark

just wanted to say welcome to the group. as for answering your questions cost can vary depending weither you stay in the usa or go international say over seas. as for the time wait it varys. in canada it can be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of child and what type of children are available to be matched and when all the legal stuff is taken care of. kee us posted. lastly find an agency that your comfortable with. keep us posted on your journy and when you'll be bringing your little one home.

Adoption can be very confusing, especially at the beginning. The cost wil depend on where and how you adopt..no adoptions are cheap.. Domestic or international is your call. When making this decision, make sure you are fully honest with yourselves about what kind of child you really want, and that would best fit your family. The wait varies, again, depending how and where you adopt. I have 3 kids who are now 12,17 and 19, all of whom were adopted from South/Central America.. We went through a lot w/ each adoption, but when you are holding your child, it is so worth it! Wishing you all the best! xxx

my husband and I also considered adoption. we are from canada but to give you an idea of how it goes here. the wait for a new born can be anywhere from 7-10 years. groups of 2 or more are more available as most people just want one child at once. children with disablities is even sooner as most people want the "perfect" child. the cost her is low i wouldn't say more then $8k canadian but thats within the province of new brunswick and if your canadian. hope that gives you and idea
