SO I GOT BOTH SEASONAL AND H1N1. THIS MORNING I GOT UP WITH A TIGHT CHEST, TERRIBLE FATUGUE, BODY ACHES AND A COUGH, MY NECK IS ALSO VERY HURTING. WHAT IS GOING ON SHOULD I NOT HAVE TAKEN THE SHOTS WITH AD? DOES ANYONE KNOW?

" Sheri, it's possible you should have spaced the two shots apart more. I got my flu vaccine in Aug and my H1N1 shot today. Thus far I've had no problems, although I did have an AD day yesterday (tired. sore muscles, etc) "

" I think you are right taking them both in the same day as really made me SICK! My chest is so tight that I can hardly talk and terrible fatigue. I thought those nurses knew what they were doing. I have found that alot of people don't know how to deal with AD. Thanks for you input. "

" sheri,
It should not be a problem to get both shots together. That's what they say. However, obviously, it doesn't always go so well. People with AD have immune systems that don't function normally. We are not really immune compromised as such, but I know my system doesn't work like it should. It probably overwhelmed your immune system to get exposed to both viruses at once. That or you are allergic to the base the vaccine comes in. Are you allergic to eggs? ANyway, the vaccines supposedly cannot make you sick - but some people do get some symptoms for a few days. Hopefully it will pass for you. Take is a lesson learned about your body. In the future, one vaccine at a time. Good luck.

" Thanks Van for your reply. I realise more and more that my body is different. Today I am having trouble breathing and feel like gagging at every cough. I know that they say the shots won't make you sick and i have never had this trouble with a flu shot before. However something was different this time. Who knows it could have been the H1N1 shot or just the fact of getting both at the same time. Anyway something had really kicked by butt. "

" Hi, saw your post. I'd gotten the seasonal flu and pneumovax a few months ago. I have always felt bad after a flu shot. They don't give you the flu as everyone says, but I get the symptoms and feel awful for a couple days. I have no spleen either though. The Dr,s I'd asked abt the H1N1 said they didn't know what to tell me. Not sure!! :( But I have COPD also. The seasonal flu never gave me resp. problems, just aching all over, low grade fever, and just blah. I know the nasal spray is a live vaccine, so to be avoided like the plague. But also heard as the vaccines were diminishing, there was some live attenuated vaccine used. ?? ( according to sister-in-law at the dept of health) I really don't know! Then again, maybe you were exposed to it, ( one of the flus ) and it just happened at the same time as the shot. Hope you're feeling better by now. People I talked with, and my niece all felt they had the flu, felt bad, cough, fever, hurting sore throat. My niece thought she was over it, and it came back with a vengence. Then they said it was the H1N1. She's still got a cough, but is much improved. It's gonna be a long winter! "
