I did research it on the internet and BRIEFLY discussed this with my doctor, but wanted to see mainly what you guys know or thought of Addison's Disease and if it severe or not and if you know anyone that has it and what are their symptoms and treatments. I have been testing positive for it. Also, do you know if its painful in your adrenal area?
I also noticed steroids is a main treatment for this and I am allergic to all steroid-type medications...so what would i do? Is this a life-threatening disease? What do you guys have as symptoms.... ANY INFORMATION on this disease you can share would be so helpful! I'm waiting to discuss further with my doc also...
any info would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you so much in advance!

" JennCA,

Here are two links with very good info about Addison's Disease (AD): http://www.nadf.us/diseases/addisons.htm and http://www.addisons.org.uk/info/ma... If indeed you do have AD, you'll need steriod replacement to live. I take hydrocortisone daily. As long as you take the steroids you can have a relatively normal life, but you will need to be careful when you get sick or injured because you may need to increase your dose. Check out the info on the links and then ask if you have any additonal questions.

I've never experienced pain near my adrenals. "

" thank you for your response and info you sent me! Yes, I have noticed that steroids are the treatment method, but what if you are allergic to all forms of steroids? That is my case.. so I'm wondering what would be next or in place of that. Would you happen to know or guess? Also, what type of doctor do you see for this? What symptoms are you going through? "

" Hi, just saw your post, been down for awhile. Have been sick, which takes a toll on us with AD.
Not sure but as coke wrote, the hydrocortisone, is almost identical to the hormones made by the body. it's the only one I think. They're all different, but do the same job. So I would think that cortef or cortisol, which is hydrocortisone, would be ok, since it's just replacing what the body doesn't produce. Check out the different steroids online, and I think you'll seewhat I mean.
Good Luck! "
