Hi,
Our son Rhys (11 diagnosed when 3) on friday and today while at school has been extremely tired and drinking absolutely loads of water according to his head teacher and also getting very hot.(today she said you could fry an egg on him) This is happening around the same time in the morning, we have noticed him being tired and drinking more but not to the extreme she is saying, but we did have quite a chilled weekend,he has his hydrocortisone at 6am 5mg, 10am 5mg, 3pm 2.5mg and then 10pm 2.5 i'm not really sure what to make of it, i have contacted great ormand street and are waiting for them to call me back, any ideas welcome. thanks kellers Posted on 09/14/09, 09:09 am |

kellers,
Have you tried contacting the National Adrenal Disease Foundation (http://www.nadf.us/links/support.htm)? They may be able to put you in touch with other parents of kids with AD that you can compare notes with. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I've only dealt with this as an adult.

kellers,
Do you follow his blood sugar at all? Cortisol plays a big part in glucose levels and metabolism so it all gets cross connected. I wonder if he's having high glucose levels? Just a thought. Vanyel

hi,
Thanks for your replies. Cokecpl, thanks i will check out that site. Vanyel, no we don't, we've never been told to, when he has his visits with his endo they do bloods and check everything then and obviously when he has his 24 hour blood profiles done. We're waiting to hear from his endo today or tomorrow to see what he wants to do, Rhys is on double doses at the moment as a precaution at the advise of his endo nurse until proff hindmarsh is back today. Should i suggest that maybe we start checking his blood sugar at home? kellers
