Stimulants and AI

I apologize for posting so many questions and topics, I am just so desperate for advice and to read others experiences to validate that this is "not all in my head" which I begin to wonder sometimes!
Has anyone been on any stimulant medications to battle the fatigue?
I was on Provigil, Adderall and then Nuvigil ( which i stopped the Nuvigil per my drs advice about 2 weeks ago now). I had varying affects on them..The Provigil gave me my life back for about 2-3 weeks! I had motivation, energy, enthusiasm, got things done here at home that needed to be done! I felt like the "old me". The dose caused too much anxiety and so we stopped ( and my ins won't pay).
Adderall did nothing..i could take it and go right to sleep.
The Nuvigil helped at first then not really ( the only thing it did was make it so I could not fall asleep when I had to lay down due to exhaustion).
My primary care dr ( who prescribed the meds) and my endo ( who knew I was on them) have not made any connections to this recent set back. I did read that stimulants "whip" the adrenal glands. My theory is that being on them did put me in this downward spiral recently.
I was hoping to get back on the provigil at a lower dose eventually ( we are appealing to my ins co) but I think this is probably not an option now.
If anyone has any experience or knowledge of stimulants and AI, I would appreciate hearing from you!
Thanks again!

" I had an incident with stimulants that made me research their effects on the body.
I was at work and extremely tired one day. The kids at work had this brilliant idea to buy me one of those super energy drinks they all drink.
Thank God I was near the end of my shift and had off the next two days! The exact same drink that made them so rapidly peppy and work faster took me right out of the game! I rapdly became weaker and weaker and wound up on the couch barely able to get up for the whole time I had off work:( I slept the majority of the time.
I read that the stimulants tell the adrenal glands to crank out even more and if there is very little reserve to begin with it wipes them right out. (and obviously US)Can't get blood out of a rock kind of thing. "

" Well, after looking back on this week, which has not been that good, I am once again thinking that the Nuvigil may in fact affect me badly. I have been back on it for a week both drs said i could go back on it so I did last weekend), and this week I feel worse.
So, I am going to stop taking it as of tomorrow and see if next week is any better off of it. It does not really help that much anyway so I should be fine not taking it and trying to rest for the next 3 days. "
