I've got a new problem that I haven't a clue what to think about. Have an appointment with a neurologist soon, on the 27th. Hopefully he can figure this body out. I sure can't. I wake up at all hours in the night with horrifically severe hand numbness, tingling, and like my hand/s are literally on fire. It feels like somebody is torturing me by burning my hands. Along ith the burning feeling my arms will get an electrical shock from elbow to hands when I try to reach for something or lift something. When I awaken in the night with this horrific pain, shocks down my arm, and severe burning in my hand or hands, I run to the kitchen and plunge them into ice water until the pain and burning stops, and then remove them and the symptoms slowly return. Sometimes I take a pain pill...or two....or three if it won't stop, and then I can fall asleep again for a little while. But the pain and burning comes back and wakes me up again. I do not have a clue what this is about. It has steadily gotten worse over the last few weeks, and now I have burning, tingling, deep arm pain, and constant sensations of being shocked up and down my arm. After I feel the shocks, then several fingers go numb, and the the entire hand/s will go numb. I don't know what else to say. This is difficult to deal with all day long, and I'm hoping somebody out there has heard of this before and can shed some light and advice in my direction. I appreciate your help and advice and thank you kindly in advance.

I have been through the burning hands at night, and sometimes during the day. I realized that it had something to do with antiinflammatories like aspirin and, especially, ibuprofen. I quit taking them altogether and have not had recurrence of that severity since then. Be sure your pain med doesn't contain these things.
