My hubby's chief oncologist said that his bone marrow biopsy showed his bone marrow was clear.
Can anyone tell me what this means. The BMB was done 14 days after the end of his induction chemo. Thanks. May everyone be successful in their treatments. mugwort Posted on 06/13/08, 11:06 am |

Generally that means that the induction sent him into remission.. meaning that they cannot see the leukemic cells in the marrow. However, generally, up to 5% can still exist undetected, so the induction is still followed by consolidation therapy in an attempt to fully kill the leukemic cells-- unless a transplant is happening and then things go a little differently.
They will probably do another BMB on day 28 (they usually do) just to check again.

Dear Butterfly. Not sending advice. Didn't see the reply button. I'm replying to you.
Firsat I'm sorry I didn't repond until now. This is the first time I saw your response. Thanks for making things clear to me on what clear means. Sorry for the pun. Seriously I am thankful for your correspondence. How are things going for you? Hopefully well. One more question. Is clear same as empty? I'm here for you mugwort
