His ALL is back

My friend was first diagnosed with ALL when he was 12. He went into remission, but now, at 19, it has returned.
Some effects from his initial treatment included a weakened immune system and, more recently, problems with his heart. He just found out the cancer is back, and he started back up on chemo. The doctors are watching him carefully because the first time around, the chemo hurt more than helped, so if the same affect occurs, they'll have to take him off. If he doesn't have chemo, what else can help him? I want to be able to help him and understand what he is going through. He feels so lost and alone right now, and I want to help him out. Just be there for him. Be there for him to talk to. I know that me I would love to have a friend who just listened. I have ALL as well and just came out of remmision as well.
