My brother age 46 was diagnosed 4/11/2011. He is still in the hospital out of state. He went through 2 rounds of chemo before he reached remission. Since then, his blood counts have not rissen despite have a couple rounds of shots to stimulate blood cell production. If they had rissen enough, he could have gone home at least for a while.

My brother says his doctor will only talk about "today". He does not tell them possible next steps, or what will happen next if his numbers don't rise. And, he started a fever yesterday.

My mom is visiting now. I want to visit but, we do not want to overwhelm his wife and kids. But, if it so critical that I will not have a chance later in the year, I would go now.

What are your prospectives or experiences?

Pam

" my brother's dr's do the same thing. they only talk about "today" with my brother when his number didnt rise on there own they gave him platlettes and the nutrocons(dont think i spelled that right lol ) and blood transfutions. my brother did 3 rounds before he got to leave and then had to go back 10 days later for his 4th round. he's moved on to radiation today and next week will have the bmt. with my brother his doctor's are moving forward with things so fast because the leukemia cells just keep coming back. it seems like forever tho when your waiting for results. i know its hard but try to keep your spirits up. " Hi "hauganp" and "sadsister78" I can understand the worry and the pain you are both feeling for your brothers. I joined this support group because I have a little boy who is 6 now and is in maintenance therapy for ALL. I just wanted to offer my prayers. Keep us posted on the progress.

Good luck and God bless :) "
