Long Term Accutane Side Effects?

My son was on Accutane for 6 months, quit last February. While taking Accutane he had every side effect in the book: dry skin, muscle and joint paint (rather severe), nose bleeds, and finally his hair started falling out.
When he stopped treatment he was assured that symptoms would gradually lesson and go away. All have save incapacitating joint pain. He is currently being worked up at a rather impressive hospital and we hope to deal with the issue; however, the joint pain started with the Accutane. Have any of you heard about cases like this? Wow, did you call the doctor who prescribed the accutane? I too experienced some joint and muscle pain which mostly faded except for pain in my heals. Last time I saw my doctor I told her my heals still hurt to which she replied, "Well, I hope it goes away." Before starting, I was under the impression that side effects faded once you stopped taking the meds or a few months later. It does seem like some men get worse side effects than women.
I'm so sorry for your son and hope he is doing well!
