Accutane

I've been to doctors before and they always resisted giving me accutane. I have a history of mood disorders, and I think that may have been the reason why. But I want to try again. The problem is I'm 26 now and have no insurance. I know accutane is expensive. Can anyone tell me whats involved? I don't even know what it is. Is it a pill you take? Do you have to have blood tests done. Is this something you could do through medicaid?
I might be able to get that.

I eat healthy and I still get break outs. It makes no sense. I'm tired of treating it AFTER the fact. I just dont want them in the first place!! There's so much information out there about different products and natural cures, or diet etc. I try to take away general points, like soda and caffeine should be avoided, no junk food etc... I think fish oil is supposed to be good too.

But it becomes an obsession and its nauseating constantly thinking about what you're doing wrong. I'd rather just do accutane I could care less about the side effects at this point.

Any info about whether or not medicaid will cover it and the type of expenses involved would be appreciated.

thanks...

" I'm not sure if medicaid would cover the treatment but I know it can get expensive! First, there are the doctors visits. Then, the actual medicine (capsules) which can cost up to 700 dollars a month. There are also the monthly blood tests. Mine cost about 70 dollars each time. Try to get insurance because it could end up costing a lot. My doctor said from 4 to 6 thousand for everything. It's crazy!
Due to studies linking accutane to suicide and deppression, doctors carefully monitor the patients mental health. If you get negative side effects, you can always stop taking it. Sit down and talk to your doctor if you want to try it! It is a pain to go through but it can really help! "

" Wow, when people said expensive I had no idea. Thanks a lot for the figure. Well, if it doesnt cover it then there's no way heh. Already spent enough money on this problem no way I can pay that much.

Also, what happens if people get acne after they stop the accutane? I mean it doesn't sound like a long-term solution. I guess the hope is the acne will eventually stop? But I've sorta given up on that hope.

Thanks for the info on the cost. "

" Accutane is meant to be a "last resort" as well as a long-term solution. Wasn't a long term solution for me, as I got acne again.

Only 25% of people who take accutane need another round though, but it is pretty expensive, though I wasn't the one paying for it. Apparently I'm part of that 25%, but my family can't afford it right now. So now I'm on Epiduo which isn't really working. "

" You could order it over the net from India. Here in India it cost me 40 dollars a month. Of-course I did not go to any doctor, just checked the net and had it for six months. I am in the 10th month and still on a maintenance dose of 60 mg per week. Believe me, Its a wonder drug! My 15 year old acne problem just disappeared!
Acne caused me a lot of depression and anxiety. "

" Hey, Antisocial83... I just started accutane in August, and I get it online. The company is Canadian Drugs, but thetyare actually from India or somewhere. I don't go to a doctor, but I did my research online to see how much I should tale, and for how long. It cost me about $100 a month, which isnt too bad considering all the products I've wasted $ on for years! I'm amazed at how awesome my skin was even after the first couple weeks. My lips are dry, but thats what chapstick is for! I havnt had any other side effects, and I'm only staying on it until Xmas. I never even saw one blemish since the first week, and even then, only a couple little ones. Good luck man! "
