What a disapointment. I felt rushed...I was not asked what products or rx's I had tried in the past, my questions were poorly answered, and overall I was left really confused.
I did get a new perscription, Minocyclene and Bezoclin. We will see if they work. I was mostly thrown off by the fact that one of the first comments that the DR said about me, was about hair removal. She made a point to mention that twice. I was like...Im here for acne not laser hair removal. But whats even worse than that, was during my body exam for moles, a stranger walked into my room while I was on the table and neither the nurse or doctor did anything to keep my privacy. (This random person was looking for a bathroom). I have no idea who it was but they saw me in my underwear. Lets just say I will not be going back to that place. maybe to be completely unhelpful is a requirement for dermatologists.. mine gave me the same thing (minocycline and benzaclin) only he didnt ask me any questions at all about the cause of my acne. on my first visit, when i told him i was concerned, he didnt even turn around to look at my face! he just gave me the prescription.
the other week I went to get a facial. The aesthetician did so much more than the dermatologist- she asked me about my current skin care, told me what was going on with my face, and gave me recommendations. the facial also helped. it is expensive, so i don't know how practical going regularly is, but i would definitely recommend it.

I have always been afraid to get facials. I thought because my skin was bad that the products would just irratate my skin more.

Most good brands design products with ingrediants that will help acnefied skin types, there a bit more expensive that other brands but help alot. The therapist would give you a consulatation and from that pick the correct products for you that would benefit your skin.

Can you see a different derma? I used to get upset after my appointments because it seemed like the doctors weren't even trying to help. It stinks. If you call your insurance company, they should be able to direct you to someone who will tell you what doctors in your area accept the insurance.
