I've waited for four years..no longer, for this acne to leave or even get a tad better
Ive tried literally everything
I even tried a raw food diet, which just about killed me
I have developed eating disorders from this acne
I have developed extreme self-esteem issues from it
I have destroyed myself
it has destroyed me
and I'm done
I'm done
I'm done and there's nothing left
I want to die
it has taken away everything

" I am "really serious" about getting rid of my acne..but I'm also "really serious" about protecting my body in the process, and I know you care and want to help, but I kind of resent being told to "open my mind", I've ravaged my skin with almost every acne solution out there...and yes I have Considered accutane, maybe I came off that I just totally dismissed it...but I weighed my options...There are tons of negative side affects to accutane, and i don't think its worth it
like kittybunny (thanks kittybunny, your advice/support was amazing) says, I think I have acne for a reason, maybe its to learn to not be so vain...or something, I think there's something horrible in our culture if we're willing to sacrifice our health so much for a cure for "moderate acne".. (I understand if its severe), sorry, that's just my stance...I'm not that closed minded about it, I completely understand and empathize with people who use accutane..I just don't...Right now this is my plan: Think positively, don't focus on acne, try to be happy, being good to my skin by not using too many products on it, and eating healthy and exercising
and yea, my acne isn't gone..cured, whatever
but my skin is way less dry and malnourished than it used to be, and I am so much happier than when I first posted this...I already suffered from depression, and actutane could actually affect your moods, I'm not willing to risk my joy for life for a cure for acne
Actually, I thank you all, you have made me realize my priorities
I thank my acne, somehow now, yes, I can do with out it, but I love it, it has taught me so much, and when its ready to leave...it will,
I've done almost everything, diet-wise and skin-care wise, now I have to focus on my internal thoughts and dialogue, I need to love myself and love my body
and I will be ok
thank you all so much
I love you guys
like kitty said: fake it till you make it
love yourself even if you don't, if that makes any sense
just be compassionate towards others and yourself
and eventually, you will forget about your skin, your physical appearance, and everything trivial in this life "

" I think if youre ever really bothered by them try accutane. Ive spoken to 3 people who had severe acne all over their faces and now they are completely clear. it also renews your skin and so helps with scarring.

The reason why alot of the things you ahve tried havn't worked is because they are just to fight the symptoms of acne.. eg antibiotics - the infection...... creams - the oil beign produced.

Accutane fights the cause of acne. When you growing up your oil glands in your face get bigger and produce more oil causing spots and you touch them n they get infected. As you get older they should shrink back down, but on soem people (with acne) they dont. Accutane shrinks the glands in your pores back down. Thats why it works even then you stop taking it bcause they have been permanently made smaller. The dryness n stuff happens cause of the sudden change in the amount of oils being produced.

If you get worried at anypoint you can stop and it quickly gets out of your system. You usually have monthly tests and check up anyway so that your dosage can be altered and its all measured on things like your weight etc.

I started accutane yesterday so I'll let you knwo how I get on. Also dont go reading people reviews on here cause alot of the people have tried to take short cuts and bought the drug off the internet and things so they dont have the correct dosages hence the bad side effects.

hope this helps a bit xx "

" Accutane SUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. After two treatments with it, it burned out my liver and left me with a permanent heart rhythm defect (going to my electrophysiologist tomorrow btw) O, but I was clear for about a year before I broke out again. "

" P.S. I took accutane from a highly respected Dermatologist who does research, I DID NOT buy it off the .net or any such place. It was covered fully by my insurance at the time. I personally know several people who have had similar side affects. If you want to take the risk of accutane fine; however, do not undermine the side effects of what it does to the body. If it causes SEVERE deformity to unborn children, there IS the strong possiblity its doing damage to you. I had to sign a waiver with my Derm before he would even prescribe it to me.

After doing personal research the last two years, and currently going back to school to study in biochemistry, I have learned it DOES NOT take serious meds to get you clear, but a multi-layered approach based on your skin type. There are medications that work, but the risks have to be weighed against the benefits. There ARE other solutions out there. "

" yeah if you've had a bad experience then yeah that's not good.
but i have liver and blood tests every month. If any thing is even slightly abnormal then the dosage is changed or stopped.
Ive been on it about a week and everything's going well!
What dosage were you on btw? cause the people who ive spoken to in person who have been on it have been amazed and had no bad side effects. Also its roacconal im on. "

" Hey there,

The first and second rounds were 40mg, then reduced to 20 every second day when I quickly developed liver problems. Liver function abnormality pops up quickly and by the time someone notices it's often too late (my blood tests were also monthly). Not to mention my heart arrythmia didn't manifest until several years later; however, I am almost positive accutane did my heart no good because I have met others with this problem and the commonality is accutane.

I dont want to scare anyone unnecessarily, but I do think people need to be cognizant that accutane is NOT a cure for everyone. It CAN bring temporary relief for some, but for many I have seen them relapse in a year or so. Some people do get as many as 5-10 year remissions from acne. Some people get no remission at all.

You have to outweigh the the benefit to risk. I personally regret ever seeing or taking the drug, and the years of relief I got were- point blank- not even close to worth it. There are other therapies I wish I'd known about or explored further. But like so many, I just wanted it to STOP.

Thankfully, I got relief through a combination of approaches, and with the advent of laser therapy, you'd never know I'd had it as severely as I did. I was asked to do some modelling, which to me was stunning considering the extent of the acne I had.

Laser saved me from pitting and scarring. "

" yeah i only have a couple fo scars and my spots arent all ove ri just get odd break outs so im on a low dose. I think that people need to consider that even drinking ccan cause big liver problems, smoking causes lung problems.... being fat heart problems... and the way i see it is... i could get hit by a bus tomorrow, or develop cancer. Ive been told im at low risk at i have a good bmi, not over weight.. i do sport... dont drink...no other health problems and im young.
ive also been offered free laser treatment afterwards for any scars i may have.
Its great that you've been offered modelling, go for it.
I earn alot from singing and the problem is knocking my confidence and stuff so i just need it gone! "
