I have had acne since I've been twelve years old. I am a thiry-one year old mom of two kids and I still have it. Recently, it's gotten alot worse. I'm skipping social events, and it's all I can think about. I went to a dermatologist who gave me differin, and now I'm taking birth control too. Maybe I need to give it more time, but I'm getting so depressed lately. Does anyone else feel like me?

Hi hidees,
Like you I have had acne on and off since my early teens. I am now 34. At around 17 it got really bad-all over my chest and entire back as well as my face. Mino & tetra-cycline were ineffective so I went for Roaccutane which worked but I had to take 2 courses. The acne stayed pretty much away bar the odd few spots for about 10 years only to return to face, jawline and back when I got to around 30. Bye bye teen acne-hello adult acne aaargh! Anyway I ordered some Pro-activ after seeing it on TV as I thought what the heck and it actually works! 3 months in my skin has honestly never been better!! I would seriously recommend you give it a go-it takes about 4-6 weeks to kick in and then just gets better & better. I hope you get to try it and that it works for you to.

I've had really bad acne for ten years now, so I know how you feel.
I tried proactiv and it didn't work. It TORE up my skin. I stuck with it for 3 months but I got sick of my skin being extra red and inflammed and the acne still being there. I'm now trying an acne cream my doc prescribed me. It's too soon to tell if it's working though. If I have success I will be sure to post it in case anyone else wants to try it. -Ellen-

Ive tried Differin gel for a while. It works but I had to use other OTC products to keep my skin healthy so it wouldnt get red and irritated. I have a topic called Trial and Error. It might help you.
