Advice:
Difficultly finding Doctor to treat me, insurance

On Oct 3rd, I had an accident at a local spa - did not lock table leg in place. In the accident, I tore my TFCC in my right wrist. There are only a handful of doctors in my area that can treat this injury and all that have been contact have refused to treat me since it was an accident. One orthopedic surgeon in the area would take me, but if it requires surgury he would have to refer me out (and I would be back to this situation). I have been told by that doctor's admin and my benefits department to not disclose it was an accident to a new (much farther away) doctor and see if they will see me (only disclose it if they directly ask where the accident occured). This doesn't sit well with me. The other thing is that I was told (by Benefits and lawyers) that my health insurance should pay for this - its up to them to file a subjugation (sp?) to get their money back from the 3rd party liability company. However, no doctor will charge my Health Insurance once they know it was an accident. Has anyone had any experience with either option?

" Had the same problem....was rearended and had neck pain and upper back. No one would see me when they found out it was a wreck. The reason being they assume everyone is a liar and they don't want to wind up in court during a lawsuit. And like you..I didn't see that it was fair and really don't see how it is legal but it apparantly is. I finally winded up with a great doctor but I went through a bunch of them just trying to get seen. If I were you follow the advise don't tell unless they ask..thats about the only way to be seen. Good luck doctor hunting...I hope you find one who cares! "

" Good news! I was able to see the doctor today. Was asked at least twice if it was Work related or Auto - it was neither so I said no, not work or auto related. I did fill out paperwork where I stated that it was Property Liability & all the details. I don't know if they actually looked at the paper tho. The doctor touched my wrist - especially on the bone that sticks out on the outside of the wrist and asked if it was painful. It was not, so he said I don't have a TFCC tear! He said MRIs can give false positives on those. Told me it was a sprain and I am to check in with him in 3 weeks, that it should be better by then. Hopefully he will still see me then, but it made my day! "
