Hi
Im Lisa I am new here. My daughter is 4(almost 5) and about 2 months ago she was diagnosed with ADHD. She was having sleeping problems and having meltdowns and behavorial problems. Her doctor put her on Clonidine. The first 2 months she did great on the meds but now for the past week, she has been having meltdowns over the simpliest things again all throughout the day and they are now worse than what they use to be and she isn't sleeping good as she was. I don't know what to do. I don't know if it is the meds or if something else is going on other than ADHD. Do I get a second opinion?? We can't get to the doc till Monday and her meltdowns make me a nervious wreck. I am just looking for some help. TIA! Posted on 06/27/09, 11:06 pm |

Did a MD say she has adhd? Do you give into her Melt If she downs Not sleeping surely is 1 cause of her meltdowns. Make her go to bed and kids are a lot smarter then most parents think. If you gave her any reward to calm her down during a meltdown, your in deep doo doo. Now you have to break the cycle. Cut out sweets. Let her drink a Diet Coke and see if she gets tired from it. Make sure it is diet.

No, I took her to a child psychologist because we have been having problems with her since Oct. of last year. She goes to bed at 8 and does not have a problem going to sleep but wakes all during the night crying and having screaming fits and talking about off the wall stuff as I don't think she has a clue to what she is saying. We don't give in to her meltdowns and we do not give her any rewards to calm her down. We let her calm herself down. Some meltdowns can last an hour. She doesn't eat much sweets as I do not have much in the house and my kids only drink juices.

She could be having night terrors. I had them as a child and now my son does. She could be asleep during the episides, where shes still dreaming and only partly awake. google it and se if the symptoms are the same as what she is having.
