Don't mean to pull anyone away from DS, which is a great place, but there's no group here specifically for adults with ADD/ADHD. Does anyone know of an online group for adults? I haven't found any online adult groups yet. I know we can start our own groups, but I'm not the kind of dependable person needed to do that. (Of course, probably anyone with ADD could say that -- LOL!)

" I found a group for women over 40 (or there abouts) who struggle with ADHD/ADD. It's called ADDiva Network. Also, there's a group on Facebook--ADDitude Magazine. I just joined that yesterday and it looks good. "

" Thanks, guys -- I'm going to look into these. Since MSN and Yahoo closed their groups it's been hard to find support groups for anything! But these look like good leads. And if I find any other groups I'll post here to.

Spacey, don't know how new you are to this diagnosis. But if you're a reader and you want a primer, consider buying a book called "Driven to Distraction." It's kinda THE add/adhd bible, and well worth the price. Another good book is "ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize your Life" -- not so much because of the suggestions but because it showcases some day-to-day problems that I never realized were related to ADD (like difficulty keeping house, hoarding, decision-making problems) that aren't really treated in "Distraction." But get "Distraction" first -- it'll give you what you need to really understand what ADD/ADHD means. "

" Hello,
I am 38 and have had Add my whole life. I am also a former mentsl health nurse, a current teacher and in my 3rd year of graduate school to be a school psychologist. I am thrilled to have ADD. It is an assest to me, and gives me the enargy and drive to the things I have accomplished thus far. Add individuals have so many gifts that others do not have. I have done alot of research on Add and I can forward you some of the research papers or give you many book titles to peruse to find out more about the disorder. The only thing I suggest is finding the right combo of low dose meds thst work for you:) As far as a group for ADD I would love to join one as well that is set at a certain time once a week or once a day, an open chst group online where we could use each others ideas and helpful tips on managment of ADD. I think that would be great, here in Miami there is a group but it costs 60.00 every session to go, they also have livfe coaches but it is also very expensive. CHAD group are wonderful but noone seems to ever creat an actual group that meet face-to-face. Sometimes if you have a major university in your area you can call the counseling center and they have graduate students who need practice and will form a therapy group if they have enough people to join it for free. I am in a group at the university here it is an open group meets for an hour and a half that we the students put together it is six weeks long, and free. But so far there are not enough grad students who want to join the group in person so no group has been formed as of yet.

If anyone want to make a real ADD group that would be wonderful and I would go online at a set day and time to chat live, but I don't know how to do that. "

" Hi guys. I too, would love to see the formation of an ADULT ADD support group. The catch truly may be in finding someone with the orgaizational skills to start/run it. I yield ! However, when I read Jen's reference to being thrilled to have it - as it was an asset to her, I had to join. The mere thought that someone was embracing their version of what I consider to be my curse, honestly shocked me ! It suddenly occured to me that I don't know as much as I thought ... but then that's usually the case. If the group should come to fruition, please count me in !! "
