Has been a constant issue for me.... i feel like i don't have the attention span for anything sometimes... it's so frustrating, especially because of my difficult major at school and the disfunctional relationships in my life. Could someone please tell me what medications might help for ADD. I've spoken to a dr. and the only stupid answer he gave me was "well, if u weren't diagnosed as a kid, u probably don't have it." ahhh
Some people really don't understand anything, do they? Posted on 07/28/08, 02:07 am |

I agree with flyleaf...find another doctor that will listen to you and will get you tested for ADD. It is possible to be diagnosed as an adult, as long as they can identify some aspect of ADD in your childhood. I am on Wellbutrin (for both ADD and Depression) and Adderall. Let me know if I can help at all.

I'm 41 and found out I have ADD several months ago--but not the predominantly hyper type. So when I was a kid, they probably wouldn't have diagnosed me as ADD anyway. I have yet to go to a doctor about it because I don't feel my symptoms warrant it--they would just want to "med" me up anyway--no thanks!

I was diagnosed at 38 when I started law school. I took Cylert for several years and probably would not have gone through the first (and most difficult) year. I graduated and passed the bar exam, but things went down hill from there....Cylert (they now know) has a tendency to stop working effectively, and it will actually make the symptoms worse. I tried all the other drugs available then, and now I believe that I am truly treatment-resitant. Any relief will have to come from "the inside job" aspect of therapy. I wish I could take meds and feel better....but it wasn't so....
