Negative Thinking...

My doc said that negative thinking is part of add/adhd. Has anyone else dealt with this? For everything that goes on in my head, I feel like I have to immediately say something negative in my head. Also, I spend 24 hours a day rationalizing my thoughts and feelings in my head and have to think about them until they "feel right." I will get relief for a few minutes and then, the whole vicious cycle starts over again. Anyone else gone through this? Also, has anyone gone through eye patch therapy?

" I deal with this all the time. The vicious cycle of negative thoughts, and I always need an answer for everything. I'm trying to work my way out of this thinking by using cognitive therapy, and its a long, hard struggle. Good luck! I'm still working on becoming more positive. "

" I go through this everyday. It is one big cycle that I dont know how to stop. It has made me very insecure. So for every good thought there is one even worse. It's so hard. "

" I am such a negative thinker and it drives me crazy! I have not been diagnosed with ADD (although I believe I may have it) so I guess the 2 are linked. I had a very good job interview today and as soon as I got out, I started thinking the worst. I wish I wouldn't think like that. =( "

" I have no idea about the eye-patch thing but although I can't prevent my negative thinking this way I found it sometimes helped when I realized I was in a vicious downward spiral with negative thinking I could simply tell myself "this isn't helping"... and for some reason it made me feel better... if not positive...

Its like the reverse of affirmations, only I'm not saying something to myself that isn't true, like I'm a strong confident person, which I don't feel like I am, its saying to myself a truth, that my current negative thought cycle isn't going to provide me with anything good... so I no longer need to continue down that path...

Hope this helps... "

" Interesting article about the eye patching!! I did some reading on split brain research when I was in college, and some of this stuff seem to really make sense. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks a lot! "
